Benefits Of Learning Post text Formatting For SEO and Visitors impressions
Text Formatting Rows |
formatting your text properly makes it easier to read and more approachable for people visiting your site it also makes your content easier to find and index for search engines and like always, nothing is ever final in WordPress so you can always go back and change things around later
How To Use text Formatting
If you want your content to be legible and approachable as possible, you have to lay out properly this means applying proper text formatting to your content. To make this as easy as possible WordPress comes with a ton of tools to help youIn fact working with text in WordPress is not all that similar from working in the text in a word processing application, that said all text formatting should be done within WordPress.
To work with text formatting you can use a random word generator to create some dummy text to start with, let’s make a new post click on the new post button up in the corner you can also go to post and click add a new post if you want to

how to add your text inside the text editor (Common Mistakes)
then copy and past your text inside the text editor, there is an important thing if you copy and past text directly from a word processor you carry with it a bunch of style code you don't need, so what you need to do past just a text as pure text this is done by function that you can't see right now because is hidden.
There is a very important button on the button row here Within the edit area is called the kitchen sink and you find it right here at the far right
Kitchen Sink Button |
How To Use Kitchen Sink Button
You click on that and you open a whole new row of buttons that you need to use, the good thing is once you've clicked the kitchen sink button and you make changes and close this window the kitchen sink will always appear, but if it doesn't remember they can always click on it to reactivate, in the kitchen sink we have these two past functions here.why you must use paste as plain text and not past from word when adding your text ?
there is paste as plain text signified by a clipboard with a T and paste from word never ever use paste from word always use paste from plain text simply because word depending on the version you're using case with a different formatting information and sometimes the past from Word function won't take out all that information.how to insert your text inside the editor:
past as plain text remove everything every time when you click on the button will open a new window and here you can past in your text Ctrl +V (Ctrl v is the universal shortcut for past), once you past in the text simply click insert and the text inserted into your area now you can start working with it.how to insert your text inside the editor |
how to use bold italicized and underline buttons
like I said working the text on WordPress is not all that the similar from working with text in a word processing application as you can see you recognize most of these buttons already the first row have standard bold italicized and underline buttons and also the very popular strike-through button That is used by a lot of bloggers this all work the way you would expect simply highlight a word and click a button and it will be changedBold button

how to use ordered list
Likewise we have the bullet lists and the ordered list they work the same way as well simply create a new paragraph Click bullet list and start typing in the same thing goes for the ordered list.how to use ordered list |

block quote and how to use it
We have this other function that's often used on the web called block quote, a block quote signifies the bulk of text that's supposed to be a long quote and is separated out from the rest of the text, the way you apply it is simply by selecting some text and clicking on it and you see this block quote is now separated out.how to use block quote |
The best way to see how this look in reality is your post saving as a draft and clicking preview when scroll down you will see the block quote is kind of indented and italicized to make a look different from the rest the text
how block quote look in preview |
alignment functions
next to the block quote you have the alignment functions the alignment functions are the standard align left align center and align rightalignment functions place inside the text formatting row |
how to use alignment functions :
align left |
- align left select your paragraph then click on align left button you will see your paragraph aligned to the left side of the editor, you can use (Alt + Shift + L) shortcut
- align center ct your paragraph then click on align center button you will see your paragraph aligned to the left side of the editor, you can use (Alt + Shift + C) shortcut
align center - align right select your paragraph then click on align right button you will see your paragraph aligned to the left side of the editor, you can use (Alt + Shift + R) shortcut
align right
align full |
Read More or Continue Reading Button ( insert more tag)
more importantly right here you have this button called insert more tag this is a feature you will often see in blogs specifically where on the front page the blog you will have a little excerpt of the story, there is a button that says read more or continue reading.how read more button appear on the front page |
How To Use Read More or Continue Reading Button ( insert more tag) for your post
there is a button that says read more or continue reading, this is how you insert you simply place your cursor where you want that break to appear and click the insert more tag button, when you click it you add this line that's is more on it is not what it will appear like but it indicates inside the visual editor what you just didhow to add read more button to your post |
if you now publish the post by clicking on publish button go to you home page and see in the front page you will find the post appear with the first paragraph only followed by this link read more. when you click on that link WordPress will move you directly to where that link is placed, and shows you the remainder of the text, that way you can post a huge article with tons of pictures or wherever you want that only displays as a little piece of the article on the front page.
next to the more tag we have the full screen button was just toggles full-screen on and off
full-screen on and off |
where you find heading and subheading in text formatting
the reason for that is without the kitchen sink but you would never get to the other most important button in this area which is this the drop down that gives you style control is important because with this drop-down you create headings and subheadings within your article separated for instance if you wanted to make a subheading directly after a block quotehow to add a new heading in your post H1, H2, H3
you simply place your cursor at the next paragraph then hit enter to create a new line and type in the subheading and use this drop-down to sign it heading 2 the reason why this is important is because when search engines go through your content they look for headings and hierarchies and see everything that says heading one (h1) is more important than everything that says heading two (h2)add heading 1 in your post |
but all the heading tags will be indexed before the text so if you want to convey a certain message for instance as requesting in heading one and answer it with the heading two, search indexes will find those two and index them properly so that when people search for a question and answer they will find those quicker.
the kitchen sink also has the function for selecting text color, if you want to change text color within a document you should really create custom style for it, and this is quite advanced and you don't really need it.
then you have these past functions that already recovered and the remove formatting button.
for the remove formatting buttons I would suggest you use the styling button themselves.
the idea of the remove formatting button is you take away the tag was attached to it and make it do something specific
you could take away the block quote tag will attack but a better idea is to simply click on the element and then you will see what kind of formatting is applied in this case the block quote and to remove it you simply un-click the block quote
the same goes for the bold as example if you highlighted you'll see that it has the bold applied and if unclick it it disappears again next to that we have the character map when click it a window will be opened, you can add custom characters
then we have the regular indentation buttons click on item indent it move it back do whatever you want back
the undo and redo buttons and of course help when you're done doing all your formatting you should always preview your changes by clicking preview changes and if you're satisfied with what you see go back to WordPress and click either publish or update
Once you know the text formatting functions in WordPress they are not all that different from the ones found in a word processing application formatting your text properly makes it easier to read and more approachable for people visiting your site it also makes your content easier to find and index for search engines and like always, nothing is ever final in WordPress so you can always go back and change things around later
